Examples of poor installations we've seen
This person spent several thousand dollars having their entire Mach-E protected with PPF. They were new and did research on what PPF was on the internet but didn’t know the right questions to ask when choosing a shop. As you can see he was extremely disappointed with the end results. So much so that he actually cut strips of PPF himself to fill in the gaps of exposed paint. There were zero wrapped edges, misaligned edges and very large gaps everywhere. Please make sure you know the quality of the end results you will be getting!

The number of shops offering paint protection film for vehicles in the greater Raleigh area has dramatically increased in the last couple of years. Combine that with the fact that most of you are new to purchasing it and that can lead to uncertainty that you will be getting the best installation for your investment. You will be seeing the results of your decision every single day for years so here’s some helpful tips.
What are some questions to ask yourself when researching?
- Are most of the reviews for other services or for PPF? All of Capital PPF’s reviews (here) are for PPF because that is what we specialize in!
- Does their social media and website only show cars from a distance so you have no way of seeing the quality of their details? We are proud to show close up pictures of our installations, see here!
- Do you see that they have recently hired new installers? Do you want someone learning on your car? At Capital PPF, Norm Schilling, the owner is the only installer with over 20 years experience. We choose to stay as a husband and wife team with no employees for many reasons, one of which is to ensure top quality on every installation!
- The business may have existed for many years but how long has the actual installer been installing PPF? The answer is the same number for Norm – 20+ years!
- Do they show they will take pride in their work on every car or do they only showcase exotics in their posts and website? Every new car is a prized possession for the owner, no matter the price tag. We treat every one with the same care and respect! Driving a bit farther for this one-time purchase that lasts many years is worth knowing you are getting it done right!
- Will they take the time to give you a proper film education so you understand how the film protects, its limitations, the end results of the installation, how to care for it and what is covered under the manufacturer’s warranty? For every customer we spend 20-30 minutes giving a real life education about their protection film and make sure you have no unanswered questions.
- What efforts do they make to show you they value you as a customer? Capital PPF has flexible hours to fit your schedule. The option of Free Pick Up and Drop Off -OR- Free Rental Car is available to most customers, just ask! We do not require full payment upfront, in fact if you need to split the payment into two credit card statements that can be arranged, just ask! We also never force “set packages” on anyone, protect the areas you want according to your budget and we are happy to guide you which areas are the better choice for you.
- Wanting to get a Gloss Paint to Matte PPF conversion to change the look? If their price is the same for Gloss PPF Full Vehicle and Matte PPF Full Vehicle this may be a red flag. Matte conversions *should* take more time and attention to detail to hide as much visible gloss paint as possible. If they are charging the same price it is likely they are putting only the same amount of effort into the installation, not going above and beyond for your vehicle to have the best end results.
